Tatuagem / Tattoo

Tenho pra mim que por mais internacionalmente famosa que tenha sido como cantora e intérprete, Elis Regina não teria mostrado toda sua condição de mulher em outra performance  que não em Tatuagem, ao vivo, olhos nos olhos de quem ficou marcado por ela feito tatuagem: seu marido, Cesar Camargo Mariano.

Flavio achou ousada minha formatação, mas concluiu que valia a pena divulgar e esperar para ver se alguém vai atirar a primeira pedra...

Insistindo no enfoque de que Elis não teria mostrado a mulher que foi se não tivesse escolhido para interpretar a maravilhosa obra da alma feminina de Chico Buarque de Holanda, deixo aqui para vocês este novo CliPPS.

I believe that for more internationally famous as a singer and interpreter, Elis Regina would not have shown all her womanhood at another performance as in Tatuagem (Tattoo), live, eyes in the eyes on whom was marked by her like a tattoo: her husband Cesar Camargo Mariano.

Flavio thought about my formatting being bold, but concluded it was worth disclosing and waiting to see if someone will throw the first stone…

Insisting on the focus that Elis Regina wouldn’t have shown the woman if she hadn’t chosen to interpret the marvelous work of feminine soul by Chico Buarque de Holanda, I leave here to you this new CliPPS.

Gostaria de lhes contar que por ter ultrapassado a média de dedicação ao formatar cada slide deste arquivo, minha sensibilidade rendeu-se de tal forma à combinação da música, letra e a mais que sublime interpretação de Elis que fui tomada por espantosa e quase palpável emoção.

Não sei qual a repercussão que o trabalho alcançará, mas saibam todos que me leem que é com orgulho de ser tão brasileira quanto Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque e Elis Regina que somo minha contribuição para divulgar esta preciosíssima joia de nosso cancioneiro.

I want to tell you that having exceeded the average of dedication when formatting each of this file's slides, my sensibility surrendered to the combination of music, lyrics and the more than sublime interpretation of Elis to be taken by an amazing and almost palpable emotion.

I don't know what will be the repercussion that this work will reach, but all of you who follow my work should know that it is with much proud to be as Brazilian as Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque and Elis Regina that I add this contribuition in order to spread a so precious gem from our Cancionero.

Minha homenagem ao cantor, compositor e violonista   Cartola , considerado  por inúmeros músicos e críticos como o maior sambista da história musical brasileira.

Para tanto, de suas muitas composições que se tornaram verdadeiros clássicos da música popular brasileira, escolhi a mais romântica:   “As rosas não falam”

This is my homage to the singer, songwriter and acoustic guitarist Cartola, regarded by many musicians and critics as the greatest Brazilian samba singer of musical history.

For this, from many of his compositions that became true classics of Brazilian popular music I chose the most romantic: "The roses do not speak"

Lábios que beijei / Lips I've kissed

Aos excessivamente nacionalistas peço que relevem o fato de ter formatado uma tradicional canção brasileira com fotos de atriz italiana.

Os estetas e admiradores da beleza feminina com certeza me perdoarão; aos demais peço que considerem a impossibilidade de encontrar fotos em profusão que se conciliem sempre com o tema da letra de uma determinada música. 

Por considerar ser mais importante contribuir na divulgação de antigas músicas de nosso cancioneiro que ser purista quanto à nacionalidade das imagens inseridas no arquivo musical, espero estar justificada.

To the extreme nationalists I ask to overlook the fact I have formatted a traditional Brazilian song using the photographs of an Italian actress.

The aesthetes and admirers of feminine beauty certainly will forgive me and then I beg the others to consider the impossibility to find the photos in profusion to reconcile always with the theme of the lyrics of a particular song.

For believing it is more important to contribute to the dissemination of the old songs of our cancionero than to be a purist about the nationality of the images included in the musical file, I hope to be justified.

Amigos Queridos,

Desta vez, empenhei-me em ilustrar o que muitos chamam de Hino Nacional do Antigo Cancioneiro Brasileiro, sonorizado com duas gravações que são verdadeiras raridades:

1 - com nossa sempre querida Maysa, num programa da TV Cultura que gravou como podia naquele momento, isto é, sentada no chão...  Resultou uma interpretação incomparável -- inclusive em relação a outras dela mesmo -- que deixa a sensação de que nosso peito sofreu uma divisão forçada no espaço que era todo de direito só do coração...

2 -- com outro grande orgulho brasileiro: aquele que em seu virtuosismo, nos momentos escolhidos com maestria colore sua interpretação com pausas inesperadas, durante as quais impregna o som aguardado de arrebatada emoção e que, soado, faz vibrar todo nosso ser em uníssono com a corda que lhe deu origem. This time, I endeavor in illustrating what many call the National Anthem of Old Brazilian Cancionero, with two sound recordings that are true rarities:

1 - with our always beloved Maysa, in a program of TV Cultura when its excellent professionals recorded how they could at that moment, that is, with her sitting on the floor... that resulted in an unparalleled interpretation - including in relation to her other ones - leaving the impression that our chest suffered in a forced division in space that was all and only of heart's right...

2 -- with another great Brazilian pride: he who in his virtuosity, at chosen times masterfully colors with his interpretation with unexpected pauses, during which pervades the waited sound of passionate emotion and that, as in sound turned, vibrates all our being in unison with the string that gave it birth. Último Desejo / Last Wish

Desta vez escolhi uma das mais representativas composições do Antigo Cancioneiro Brasileiro  -  Último Desejo, de Noel Rosa.

Quem primeiro gravou-a foi Aracy de Almeida em 1938, sem que o compositor chegasse a ouvir a gravação de uma de suas obras mais célebres, cuja partitura foi ditada no leito de morte para o parceiro Vadico.

O filme sobre o “poeta da Vila” - como era conhecido Noel - teve como cena final esta música cantada pelo grande Mestre Wilson das Neves, cantor, baterista e compositor, a qual constitui o fundo musical da primeira parte deste arquivo.

Ouso afirmar que não há música brasileira que tenha sido mais gravada que esta, e de todas as gravações que muito me encantam, destaquei a que mais me emociona para a parte final – a de Maria Bethania.

This time I chose one of the most representative compositions of the Old Brazilian Cancionero – “Último Desejo” (Last Wish), by Noel Rosa.

The first artist that recorded it was Aracy de Almeida in 1938, without the composer having listened to the recording of one of his most famous works, which the score was dictated on his deathbed to the partner Vadico.

The film about the "poet of the village“ - as Noel was known - had this song in the final scene, sung by the great Master Wilson das Neves, singer, drummer and composer, which is the background music of the first part of this file.

I dare say there is no Brazilian music that has been recorded more times than this one, and from all recordings that really enchant me, I chose the interpretation that most touches me to the last part - that of Maria Bethania.

Malandrinha - Mischievous

Ainda conciliando o presente com o passado no que diz respeito aos cantores escolhidos para estas página do Antigo Cancioneiro Brasileiro – a que passei a chamar de CliPPS –  nesta música trouxe uma inovação através do ritmo – especial peculiaridade do intérprete que escolhi, e cuja malícia de voz, cadência e domínio de andamento me soam incomparáveis na modalidade.

Still reconciling the present with the past with regard to the singers chosen for this pages of the Old Brazilian Cancionero – which I came to call as Clipps – in this song I brought an innovation through the rhythm - special peculiarity of the artist that I chose, and whose malice in the voice, cadence and tempo domain sounds me unmatched in the genre.

Rosa / Rose

“Rosa” de  Pixinguinha (Alfredo da Rocha Vianna Júnior)

Música de Pixinguinha – 1917; letra de Otávio de Souza – 1922.

Flautista, saxofonista, compositor e arranjador brasileiro, Pixinguinha é considerado um dos maiores compositores da música popular brasileira. Contribuiu diretamente para que o “choro” encontrasse uma forma musical definitiva. 

Entre centenas de composições, além de Rosa são também de autoria de Pixinghinha : Carinhoso, Vou Vivendo, Lamentos, Naquele Tempo e Sofres Porque Queres.

No dia 23 de abril comemora-se o Dia Nacional do Choro, uma homenagem ao nascimento de Pixinguinha.

Among hundreds of compositions, besides Rose are also authored by Pixinguinha: Carinhoso, Vou Vivendo, Lamentos, Naquele Tempo and Sofres Porque Queres.

On April 23 we celebrate the National Day of Choro, a tribute to Pixinguinha’s birthday.

A música de Newton Teixeira por si só já é uma poesia, tão rica e delicada a harmonia de sua melodia; somada aos versos do poeta Jorge Faraj, constitui uma das mais belas canções românticas de nosso antigo cancioneiro.

Newton Teixeira’s music by itself is already a poem, so rich and delicate is the harmony of its melody; added to the verses of poet Jorge Faraj, it is one of the most beautiful love songs of the Brazilian Cancionero.

"Ultima Estrofe", sucesso maior de Orlando Silva, de cuja gravação foi destacada a estrofe que deu origem ao nome desta bela obra de nosso cancioneiro, aqui editada com a moderna interpretação de Gal Costa.

Meu "carro-chefe" aqui no Cancioneiro

Aqueles que pertencem à geração anterior, posterior ou à minha própria, em vários momentos de suas vidas devem ter se emocionado com a beleza desta melodia e singeleza de sua letra.
Preciso lhes contar que estávamos no início do século XXI  quando ouvi aquela voz já tão admirada de característica gutural, modulação doce e ao mesmo tempo extremamente viril cantando os primeiros acordes da música que era tão “minha”. O que ouvia reverberava de tal sorte em todo meu ser que surpreendi-me com um  longo e sentido gemido... Momento inefável!
Tratava-se da criação primeira do gênero samba-canção, de antes do século passado completar 30 anos, em composição de Henrique Vogeler, com letra da parceria Marques Porto/Luiz Peixoto.

My "flagship" here in the Cancionero

Those who belong to the previous generation, later ones, or my own, in various momets in their lives must have been thrilled with the beauty of this melody and its simple lyrics.

I must tell you that we were at the beginning of this century when I heard that voice already so admired and of guttural characteristic, sweet modulation and at the same time extremely virile singing the first notes of the music that was so "mine". What I heard reverberated in such a way throughout my being that I was surprised with a long and moved moan of mine... Ineffable moment!

It was the first piece on the creation of samba-song, before the last century completing 30 years, in the composition of Henry Vogeler, with lyrics in the partnership Marques Porto / Luiz Peixoto.

Eu sonhei... / I Dreamed...

Com a intenção de humildemente contribuir para a divulgação do antigo cancioneiro brasileiro, formatei esta primeira jóia de nossa música não só em homenagem aos sonhos dos homens que  sempre souberam amar, como também às recordações do que nós, mulheres, envoltas em nossos brancos vestidos de baile muito sonhamos... Sem esquecer de todas as outras que ainda irão sonhar...
